The Predator

The first on-screen victim of the Predator in the original film, Shane Black, explosively re-invents the popular Predator franchise. Now, the universes most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a rag-tag crew of ex-soldiers with a science teacher can combat the predator. Shane Black, who is best known for writing the first two Lethal Weapon films, perfectly blends his trademark witty humour and in-your-face action to construct a very entertaining, if flawed, science-fiction action comedy.

The Nun

The fifth installment in the so-called Conjuring Universe is a spin-off story concerning the origin of the demon called Valek, that takes the form of a nun, first featured in The Conjuring and later more prominently in the sequel as the main antagonist. The Nun is arguably the scariest of the many demons and spectres director James Wan has conjured up across both The Conjuring and Insidious franchises. When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in 1950’s Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. But they are confronted by a malevolent force taking the form of a nun and the abbey soon becomes a hellish battleground between the living and the damned.

The Equalizer 2

Antoine Fuqua returns to direct the sequel of his popular and well received action film that was released in 2014; itself loosely based on the 1980’s television series of the same name. The Equalizer was a stylishly action-packed and punishingly violent action-thriller that was anchored by Fuqua’s expert hand and Denzel Washington’s charismatic performance as the title character. The sequel picks up where the last left off with Washington returning to a role for the first time in his career as ex-US Marine and former DIA (Defense Intelligence Agent) Robert McCall; to mete out brutal justice in the name of the exploited and oppressed. But this time one of his close friends is killed, which sets Robert McCall off on an unstoppable path of revenge.
