Hacksaw Ridge is a biographical war film telling the extraordinary story of Desmond Doss, an American pacifist combat medic who was a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, who refused to carry a firearm or weapon of any kind. The film mostly deals with his incredible exploits that lead to him being the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor, for his gallantry at the battle of Okinawa. Mel Gibson returned from a ten year hiatus to direct this typically powerful war epic.
