Solo: A Star Wars Story

The second Star Wars Anthology film, following 2016’s acclaimed Rogue One, takes place even earlier, tens years before the events of A New Hope to explore the origins of the iconic and beloved scoundrel Han Solo and his furry companion Chewbacca. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous underworld, Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that explores the origins of the galaxy’s most unlikely heroes.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The Jurassic Park franchise explodes back onto our screens after 2015’s Jurassic World had successfully reignited the long-dormant series. Three years on after the destruction of the titular theme park by rampaging dinosaurs, Islar Nublar has been left abandoned by humans. However, a dormant volcano threatens to erupt, and Owen and Claire mount a rescue mission to save these endangered dinosaurs from the disaster. Owen is motivated by his desire to find and rescue his raptor pal Blue, but amidst the violent eruption, the two soon become embroiled in a conspiracy that could leave the world open to a return to prehistoric times.

A Quiet Place

2018 looks like it could be an exciting year for horror and has already brought us a successful and original horror film. Recently horror seems to deliver at least one outstanding film that transcends the genres. Last year’s most impactful horror was Get Out, a thought provoking social critique on modern racism that was also an effective horror/comedy thriller. And 2016 brought us a refreshing twist on the home invasion horror sub-genre in Don’t Breathe, 2015 had the deeply unsettling slow-build period-set supernatural horror The Witch and 2014 the simply terrifying It Follows. A Quiet Place certainly looks set to stand amongst these great modern horrors, being just as scary, smart and original. The premise; a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt only by sound threaten their survival every day.
