Dark Signal

The latest 2016 horror to be reviewed is a strange coming together of two horror sub-genres; part ghost story and part slasher. Our heroine, Kate, is strapped for cash and convinced by her boyfriend to rob one of his clients who conveniently lives in an isolated farmhouse in the Welsh countryside. Next news the spirit of a murdered girl returns with a message and Kate ends up stranded in the middle of nowhere with only the staff of a local radio station to help her.

X-Men: Apocalypse

 

X-Men Apocalypse is technically the ninth installment in the X-Men film series, but is realistically the fifth film if we discount spin-offs in this increasingly complicated saga. The first X-Men film arrived on the scene in 2000, was a huge success and has been attributed as being the first Marvel comic book based film to have been taken seriously. As it brought a surprising amount of thoughtfulness to its narrative, boasted plenty of action and a superb cast.
