Top 12 Last Stand films
Its the 27th of July and to celebrate the heroic exploits of “The Final Eleven” and their epic last stand; here are my favourite “Last Stand” films. On 27th July 1880, “The Final Eleven” were part of the 66th Foot (Berkshire) Regiment (now The Rifles Regiment), who along with the Anglo-Indian Army, fought in the battle of Maiwand against a much larger Afghan army during the Second Anglo-Afghan War in Helmand. This was a catastrophic British defeat and “The Final Eleven” famously defended their coulours with their lives, until they had exhausted their ammunition supply, fixed bayonets, and charged to their deaths.
